Our Wonderful Site-Servicer: Chris Lepine!

Chris Lepine (Site Servicer/Civil Worker)

Now working on Harrison for the past two years, the hardworking capable man above is Chris Lepine. Chris is a proud owner of two of our phase 2 units!

Harrison Ridge is almost completed with site servicing. This process includes water supply, implementing sewage systems, and many others. Chris has done an amazing job with the storm system. The past couple weeks is true evidence of our storm lines, we have not had any problems with flooding at Harrison Ridge.

No flooding at Harrison Ridge in the heavy rain B.C. is experiencing.

We had the wonderful opportunity to interview our very own civil worker Chris Lepine!

Here is the compiled list of Q+A’s from an interview with Chris.

1.What is your job? and how many are in your team?

“I am a Civil Worker/Site Servicer. I mainly put in the storm system, sewage systems, water lines, and fire hydrant mains. I started with 8 people on my team before covid but, now the team has shrunk significantly.”

Like many other employers and businesses, Chris also lost many workers due to the pandemic. This issue may have slowed down his process, however his continuous hard work ethics and strategic problem solving and business management has led him to survive and thrive during the pandemic.

2. What do you look for when you manage your teammates?

“Definitely safety and communication. We have a radio to be able to communicate with each other.”

Similar to Charles’ response to this question, being in construction is dangerous. Getting our employees home safe every night is a priority to our business and team. By implementing radios for good communication keeps his team safe and also shortens construction time.

3. How do you approach leadership to keep your team motivated?

“I implement safety meetings every week and everyone is involved. During our meetings we have discussions where we hear everyone’s input on the site and situations we are dealing with. For everyone safety we have daily check in /check outs for my employees with temperature readings before we start work.”

Chris’ top priority is safety. Construction work is a dangerous job and without proper management of safety protocols workers can face life threatening injuries. Chris also mentioned that he hosted a BBQ for his team every payday Friday in the summer to motivate as well. Having a team is having a second family in the work force. Respect must be shown to everyone.

4. What is your favorite thing about Harrison Ridge? And why would you live there?

“I have lived in this community since 1974. Benefits of living in a remote community like Harrison Ridge is the security. This isn’t downtown. Unlike the city with high crime rates and potential thiefs in the neighbourhood. It’s a tight knit community over here. People look out for each other.”

Chris has vested interest in this development. The Lepine Family are proud owners of not only one but two of the units at Harrison Ridge.

5. Your favorite part of your job? and what was the most challenging part of Harrison Ridge’s development?

“I have always loved playing with equipment and tools. This was a challenging site to deal with due to the hills, elevation and rocks. There was also a pond that was dug out and refilled with drainage rock. Im happy with the outcome, we are almost done with servicing work.”

Having been in this industry for a very long time, Chris is very passionate about his work and what he does. Without people like Chris who implements safety linings for homes like storm systems, fire hydrants, sewage systems, etc we are able to live freely without the worries of flooding, fires, and other natural disasters.

Thank you Chris for keeping us safe and stress free!

6. How do you deal with the randomness of BC weather?

“Being in the construction industry we just need to live with it. We can never beat the weather. We need to be strong and put on rain gear and go.”

Construction work is a very labour heavy job. Keeping a construction workers mindset is very difficult and hard to maintain. Through acts of motivation Chris strengthens his employees mindset.

7. What is your best life advice?

Work hard and get out of bed!

We appreciate your hard work and we look forward to completing more projects with you!

Thank you Chris for giving us the chance to get to know you more. We thank you for your continuous hard work ethics and we are so excited for the final outcome (est. Jan for Bldg 1). We hope you and your family stay safe and blessed this winter.
