Meet Our Construction Manager: Charles Kim

Say hello to the man who brought the idea of Harrison on paper to a real-life construction site onto our scenic land. We are all super excited to see the final outcome of this project! All possible because of our dedicated construction manager.

As a marketing and sales team member, I am honored to work side by side with Charles. His hardworking work ethics and amazing communication skills are beneficial to keep the ball rolling for our development.

Over the weekday, our marketing team had the chance to interview and ask him some questions about himself.

Here is a compiled list of Q + A’s from our beloved Charles Kim.

1.What is your job? What do you do? And how many team member do you work with?

“I am a construction manager. I receive the architectural drawings and put paper to real life. Start at the footings then foundations, farming, all the way to finishing of the exterior of the building. I have a crew of around 5 people. The other major components are subcontracted to other teams and companies.”

Charles needs to be very careful with his measurements because one mistake can lead to a huge detriment of the whole building. As a construction manager, Charles possesses the traits of being meticulous and is a creative fast problem solver from minor to major problems that surfaces from this project.

2. What do you look for when you manage your teammates?

“The most important skill set to have is communication. Communication is most important in a timely manner due to safety reasons. Workmanship and cooperation from my team also save construction time and maintain a safe environment for all my workers.”

Charles emphasizes communication. In a dangerous construction site, If a team has a lack of communication this can possibly lead to danger, injuries, and mistakes to the construction.

3. How do you approach leadership to keep your team motivated?

“I think complementing is the most important because we are human beings and we need to motivate by heart, to the heart, rather than picking the worst things out of people to fix.”

Motivation works best for Charles’ team through complements to the heart.

4. What is your favorite thing about Harrison Ridge? and why would you live there?

“I would love to live in Harrison Ridge Townhomes because the nature and surroundings are impeccable. One thing you cant experience in the city in the summertime that I witnessed while constructing was the soaring eagles and the paragliders in the sky. Harrison Ridge Developments is about the natural setting.”

During the past two years that Charles has been working for our site, he has witnessed many eye-opening sights from paragliders,

5. Your favourite part of your job?

“I truly enjoy what I do for a living. I like watching the progress from nothing to a successfully completed project. “

6. How do you deal with the randomness of BC weather?

“I haven’t yet experienced extreme weather yet. However, when we were here in Harrison Ridge during the flooding the buildings were all good and we experienced no flooding on the site due to the elevation of our location. Being in the construction industry we just need to deal with the random weather. “

7. What is your best life advice?

“Simplicity is key! Be simple. Complexity drives human life difficult so we need to make things simple. That is my life goal. “

We thank you Charles for your continuous hard work ethic and drive. We will be supporting and looking forward to the final project!

Our team hopes you and your family has a blessed holiday this season. Thank you Charles.
